BOOMERANG PRO FITNESS WAS FOUNDED BY JOHN CAMILLERI IN 2015 TO PROVIDE PERFORMANCE TRAINING TO ATHLETES ACROSS ALL DISCIPLINES.

At Boomerang Pro Fitness, we bridge the gap between fitness assessment and actual sporting performance.

Comprehensive fitness testing is essential for all athletes as it provides the benchmarks that shape fitness programmes, personal training sessions, sports therapy and nutritional plans. To make it truly effective, we also need to test and understand how an athlete is performing in real-time within their competitive environment. It is this data that is key to making an athlete’s physical preparation relevant and appropriate.

The Boomerang team has significant experience working in professional motorsport, with drivers and teams at elite level. The difference between winning and losing is separated by hundredths of seconds. So that’s why we consider every aspect of preparation to help to gain maximum performance when it matters.

We have experience working in the professional sporting arena.  At Boomerang Pro Fitness we understand that the modern athlete has a team of technical coaches, conditioning coaches and sports therapists. As well as providing complete training solutions, we can add to this established dynamic by working with an athlete’s coaching team to offer real-time physiological analysis that can help with strategic and technical decision making, helping provide a truly competitive edge.

WHAT MADE YOU WANT TO PURSUE YOUR PASSION IN THIS FIELD?

I’ve always been a competitive person with a real love for many sports and enjoyed being physically fit. Undertaking a degree in Sports Studies opened my eyes to training in new ways. Here I discovered how to break down overall physical performance to its constituent parts to achieve the optimum overall. I started applying these different strategies in my own sports coaching and wrote a paper on feedback methods for optimal skill acquisition, which is at the root of what Boomerang Pro Fitness is all about.

HOW DID YOU COME TO THIS POINT IN YOUR CAREER?

My career in fitness, to this point, has been extensive. From personal training in a gym environment, I then became a GP referral and cardiac rehabilitation exercise physiologist in a clinical setting. I currently specialise in human performance in professional sport. I believe that each of these contrasting experiences has given me a great insight into how to get the most out of an individual, whatever the scenario.

WHY START BOOMERANG PRO FITNESS?

I had spoken to many athletes, especially racing drivers, who take their fitness seriously but have largely failed to make the best use of their fitness data. For example, they have undertaken comprehensive lab-based assessments that measure lots of different variables, but then not used that valuable data after for a fitness programme. Where fitness programmes were implemented, athletes were never retested to establish their effectiveness. This incomplete approach seemed to be very ineffective for so many people, so after completing the professional motorsport season with Aston Martin Racing, Boomerang Pro Fitness was born.
